“As the weekend went on it just made me realise how lucky I was to be with two very professional people.”

A small family business, Wise Women, has emerged, evolved and grown, with tender and loving care from Justine.

In conjunction with Miriam, a highly experienced psychotherapist, who specialises in women’s issues, Justine’s vision for Wise Women Retreats has been germinating for decades. Now, with the support of Miriam she is able to bring all her experience to providing a retreat that nurtures a woman’s body and psyche.

Miriam centres her practice around the principles of inclusion, acceptance and compassion and is passionate about developing a profession-wide understanding of working with diversity and difference.

You can read more about Justine (right), Miriam (left), Ted (centre) and the all those who work to make your retreat personal, healing and special, here: Our People.

Justine and her team create the physical, nurturing space, with unique and individual passion, creating a safe space for body mind and spirit to unravel and rest.

Bespoke therapeutic programmes, primarily for women but some workshops are open to others as well. Miriam is a psychotherapist with over three decades of professional practice and specialisms in women’s mental health and growth.

During the pandemic, Justine was part of Miriam’s online Nourish & Nurture Women’s Wintering Programme with virtual campfires! But Justine wanted real fires, real home-cooked nourishment and to provide physical space for nurture and rest.

Throughout your stay, you will meet Miriam, Anita and Justine on the led retreats.

Our therapeutic January retreat

January 30th - February 2nd 2025

There is nothing quite like this intimate, bespoke retreat and the nurturing activities inspired by our connection with nature and the seasons.

The mind, body and nervous system are all attended to through our retreat weekends. We believe we are naturally inclined towards wellbeing, and that letting go, and being supported on retreat, allows our mind and body to restore itself.

Your Stay Includes:

  • Delicious, locally-sourced, home prepared food.
    All dietary requirements catered for

  • 3 nights’ top rated accommodation for residential participants.

  • Meditation, group work, self care practices and mindful ritual.

  • Deep Relaxation (Yoga Nidra) and a Healing Sound Bath.
Healing practices designed to help you sleep, so your body, mind and energy can naturally restore overnight.

  • Sensory and mindful local walks.
Gentle exercise combined with heightened awareness of our senses. Nature grounds, supports and reconnects us, and is part of the secure base we work with.

  • Restorative Yoga - this is not what you might have considered ‘yoga’, but is a specialist form of relaxation and gentle movement, focus, breath-work and body awareness.
By helping your nervous system relax and feel safe, the group therapy is more effective. All abilities catered for, all equipment provided and the gentlest of options are always available.

  • Your own personalised Wise Woman Winter Retreat Journal

  • Use of several indoor and outdoor spaces to be alone.

The group will be held by a qualified and experienced GP and a qualified and experienced Psychotherapist and a qualified and experienced Yoga Teacher, we are also much more than our qualifications, as mature practitioners we work with a synthesis of healing models.
